No American Blood.
Not for Taiwan.
I never thought we would be in total disagreement, but the referenced author and I, are. His ice-cold “Taiwan belongs to America” stance is unnecessarily suicidal. Taiwan belonged to China BEFORE anything was ceded to Japan, and it is just off their coast; Chiang kai-Shek fled there WITH THE NATIONAL TREASURY OF THE PRC and set up an “interim” government, intent on returning to and re-taking the mainland. Didn’t work out. Nearly eight decades later, Taiwan is a feudal state, with an ultra-rich and a slave class. Most of it is “owned” or controlled by formerly American but now, multinational corporations, not the American military. They came there for cheap labor to undercut American workers and because of Chiang kai-Shek’s apparent wealth.
Now this guy says “we own it.”
WHAT YOU INTEND IS TO DEFEND THE INVESTMENTS OF MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS USING AMERICAN BLOOD AND AMERICAN TAXPAYERS’ MONEY.
I say, Fuck you.

Chiang Kai Shek fled with the treasury of the ROC, not the PRC. And I think the bigger issue at play is that the US has tied its reputation as a security partner (the basis of the empire) to the independence of Taiwan. It's not about democracy or microchips
