Just Another Day
So it's a new year. So what?
Just Another Day.
The new year is upon us, and what will it bring? That’s a question to be answered, for sure, and it will be. As it has always been.
This new year can be one of hope, and renewal, but that doesn’t make it any different than yesterday, or the week or month before it. The same influences and decisions that existed last year all year remain, and they must be handled, as before. The same sun will rise in the same sky; the drive to succeed is still in place. What more, really, needs to be said?
For some reason, we seem to think a new year is actually new, but it isn’t. It has a different number on it, but the passage of time will continue, whether or not we choose to participate. The choices we make, the effort put forth, the successes and failures will continue, for all. Some people have a grand idea that will actually prove to be grand. Others are destined to crash. It’s the way of things, like it or not.
Suppose you’ve decided to pursue some different course with the inception of a new year. Is it really the right time? Or is it just that the year is new? Take a hard look, count costs, proceed with due caution. Don’t burn bridges. Forget that the year is new, and approach it that way.
And I say, success to us all.

Yes! A great thought for the new year. Here's to making the best of every day.
This year, at least, the new year marks for me the beginning of the most radical and difficult undertaking of my life. That the timing aligns with the Gregorian calendar is incidental to the grandeur of the undertaking, but the timing will forever help me remember this moment.
